Advanced Placement (AP)
The Advanced Placement program gives motivated high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school. AP courses teach students skills that can lead to success in college. Students develop writing skills, problem-solving techniques and study habits that will prepare them for college academics. Taking rigorous AP courses demonstrates students’ maturity, willingness to push themselves intellectually, and commitment to academic excellence which helps to set them apart in the college admissions process. AP courses are taught by dedicated and enthusiastic teachers who follow course guidelines developed and published by the College Board. AP students have the potential to earn college and university credit by successfully passing the spring AP tests in the subjects they have prepared for.
College in the Schools (CIS)
College in the Schools courses are college courses taught in high school; they are not high school courses. Students have more freedom than in other courses taught in high school-but they also have more responsibility for their own progress and work in this course. Upon successful completion of a course, students receive four semester credits from the University of Minnesota University College.
Saint Paul Career Pathway Academy
Saint Paul Career Pathways Academy is a high school program located at Saint Paul College where students can explore careers, take Career and Technical Education courses, and have the opportunity to earn high school and college credit. Saint Paul Career Pathways Academy is an option for students in grade 11 or 12 and is on track for graduation.
